The history of gaming begins in 1950, when the idea of video games was born in computer science research universities. Games became known before 1970 with the release of the first arcade games and video game consoles, offering only about ten fairly simple games. The video game industry became a real market; with the evolution of technology, it experienced a crash in 1983 after the boom of the 1970s.
To this day, we have seen nine generations of consoles evolve, including the Nintendo Switch, the PlayStation 5, and the Xbox One X.
The history of gaming also extends to PC, a platform that today represents a high proportion of the market and continues to grow through the distribution of digital platforms, particularly via Steam. Starting from 2010, video games also became available on smartphones, thanks to increasingly powerful devices with larger screens, allowing the development of titles similar to those of the 2000s on portable consoles.
