- Music and sounds downloaded from https://opengameart.org and https://www.youtube.com
- Use of external libraries and code: Unity’s built-in libraries
- Time spent: one month
- How did you (or didn’t you) approach the theme constraint: I started with my character and then built the rest.
- Brief postmortem (thoughts on the language/framework used, difficulties, successes, choices, quick personal assessment, etc.): Unity is a wonderful tool, but you need to know how to use it. My first goal was to learn how to use the engine (interface, animations, C# functions, tools). I started having issues while creating my character, trying to match the animations with the movements. Then I spent quite some time on the animated platforms that allow Maria to go from one fixed platform to another. Let’s say the coding part was hard, being my first real project with C# and Unity. I’m happy because the game, even though it’s not perfect, works and has the features I wanted from the start. I realize the theme isn’t very original — looking at my classmates’ projects, I noticed I had worked on a topic that had already been done several times. Still, I’m happy because what I was looking for wasn’t originality but rather learning how to use the tool.
